The quality of this camera is really great. All features you want are their but the pricing is not great for this kind, picture quality and night time view can be improved also streaming is bit laggy.

The camera is ok. I am running a 64 GB card which backs up approximately a week’s worth of footage. Installation and setup was easy, just needs a stable wifi. Can cover a wide area with 360° rotation and field of view is good too. I am getting notifications too about events unlike many others. The quality is decent but that’s about it for its features.

Now for the issues-
1. I chose this over its competitors due to NAS but it’s just a gimmick. My laptop, phone and all other devices can recognise my NAS but this camera couldn’t. I tried all tricks in the book(rather the internet) but it just couldn’t recognise my NAS.
2. Other cameras has motion/subject tracking, this doesn’t.
3. It doesn’t recognise half of the activities. I have it faced at the entry gate of my house. It gives notification about some random activity where some pixel has changed but half of the activities happening right infront of it isn’t recognised. I have passed so many times infront of it, even faced it, but it only captured my activity once. Its activity recognition is not to be dependent upon, you would have to review your footage manually.
4. If you have to download a portion of the video to your local device, you have to press the record button while running the footage and then let it run at 1X. I can’t just point it to the first and last point on the timeline and let it finish NOOOOO, you can’t even speed up the footage while “recording”, you would have to sit there and wait for the footage you’ve reviewed 10 times to record again.
5. The camera quality is not very good. The picture is grainy and not very clear. The quality (if judged by the resolution) is better on the realme cam at the same price.
6. The playback at 16X sometimes is very jittery. It gets stuck so much that it renders that feature completely useless sometimes but other times works fine.
7. Oh and good forbid you lose your internet connection, it’ll stop recording altogether. I had my internet go out for a couple of hours but I thought that it might be writing that data on the SD card since writing there won’t require any internet connection. When the internet connected again, the footage of that time was just missing. WHY?
8. This is just a minor bug that the camera calibration button in the app has no confirmation message. If you accidently press it, it’ll just start calibrating. There should be a confirmation popup on it like we have on delete.

There might be some other issues which I’m forgetting but this is the crux of it. I wish I had purchased the realme cam but I can’t say for sure if that would not have these or some other issues.

Good:
1. Good quality
2. Excellent video quality though its 2mp
3. Great night vision to limited feet.
4. Mi home app is great.
5. Connectivity seems good as the camera is 7 feet away from router.
6. Has lengthy usb to b type cable where competitor fails to provide.
7. App can have multiple MI security camera added.
8. Can share the camera via app to other mobile devices where they should have Mi home app.
9. Can be installed up side down, and the camera view can be rotated via app settings.
10. Has desktop app which can be downloaded from official MI site.

Bad:
1. No free or paid cloud STORAGE in India (Should have reduced the price). Only NAS and SD card storage available.
2. Night vision doesnt automatically turn OFF even though settings has been updated.
3. No proper updates to firmware (May be MI stopped supporting these devices)
4. Laggy desktop app
5. Motion detection is buggy. Detects flying flies or some flying objects as person and sends notification. Think how it will be when notification popups at midnight and sends PERSON DETECTION notification. When you try to view, there wont be any person. May be it detects Ghost :/
6. Once detected a person or motion, it captures 10 seconds preview.
7. SD storage upto 32gb which recorded 4 days of continuous recording. Didn’t try 64gb.

Packaging:
Secured packaging, but the product manufactured was last year.

Tips/Note:
Connect the MI security camera to powerbank. Then from powerbank to power adapter. This will help you during power cut.

Camera quality awesome, mic sounds crystal clear, but not worth if you are buying for 02 way audio calling, speakers stuck sometimes & low volume if you are calling from headphone mic.
